Chimney Pot

The builder returned to the cottage to finish chimney work, deflated air balloon from cavity, and some final pointing work.

Also fitted a chimney pot with a bird guard.

Work begins on the chimney!!

Scheduled work on chimney is eventually happening today! 

Builders arrived early on site, and proceeded to unload ladders and equipment from their van, probably in process waking and annoying the neighbours! (although I have given them advance warning of work)

 First step was to remove the old gas flue metal liner, and gas cowl from the chimney stack

A "balloon" type liner was placed down the chimney and inflated using compressed air, and  a specialist pumped concrete mix was placed into the chimney around the balloon, When the concrete mix is set hard, the balloon will be deflated.
