View from the North
These pics were taken looking back onto Low Etherley village... you can just make out the black roof of the single storey cottage - mid centre picture
Front Bedroom - work begins on ceiling
Ceiling removing day today...goodness, hundreds of years of dust!! Only pleased that we weren't removing it.
Once the old boards and lathes were down, the job of removing hundreds of tacks was never ending..

Lounge
Work began today with preparation for plastering in the lounge.
We decided to replace all of the ceilings, to remove the old lathes and plasterboards, and over 150 years of accumulated dust! (we didnt actually do this ourselves...! prefering to keep well out of the way!

Ceiling boarded Tuesday afternoon ...
First coat of remedial plaster
Wednesday - ceiling skimmed
Wednesday/Thursday - walls skimmed - lounge complete
Kitchen
The joiner made a start on panelling kitchen walls. We are having a timber framework built on chimney breast wall, covered with 3/4" plywood to be able to fix kitchen cabinets and cooker hood to it. The framework for vaulted ceiling will also be attached to this framework.
Electrician visited too to make final adjustments to first fix electrics before plastering begins.
He made discovery that thieves have cut off 2 exposed earth lead cables from front of house, each about 12" long, to weigh in for its scrap value!!
Followed this up with a quote for installation of a burglar alarm!
